Welcome to the games page 2. I thought I would start a new games page as the old one was kinda full, and as we have moved, I thought it a good idea to start this page with the first pics of SELWG's new venue, at Catford.
Friday the 19th of October. With the show being cancelled due to the discovery of asbetos at the Crystal Palace sports centre, club members turned out to game, and make the most of the Friday night wargamming.
A special mention goes out to Mr Campbell, who lost again in his WAB game, [ you don't say,] just a friendly this time, thanks as well to Max who loaned Mark his Japanese for the battle, and to Steve with his Spartans for providing the opponent, [ well, who would not run away from some naked men with large pointy things.] Also a mention must go out to Gary, who, with 11 points in the WAB league, with his Alexandrian's, is the runaway leader at the moment. Commiserations to Paul, his opponent, who at a vital moment threw 10 for his leadership, and thus started an early rout of most of his army.Yes Gary I think there will be a prize for the jammiest player.
Friday the 1st of Feb, game night, just a few pics by me, I think I had set my camera to the wrong setting, so, I apologise for the pics if they are a bit grainy, but I did see at least another 4 people, with camera's there on the night, so more pics to follow.
The pics below, were taken by Paul York, of the WW2 on the same night, Febuary 1st, 08.
I managed to take some pictures of the 3 WAB games on Friday the 22nd Feb, well when I say pics of 3 games, I turned around to take pic's of Mr Morgan's, Crusaders, v Mr Watkins, Romans game, I discovered that the Romans had won in record time. Gary Stark's, Alexander Macedonians tripped up at the last hurdle, and drew with Steve York's Vikings, where as Steve Earl's Spartan army, clocked up another win, this time against Bill Paveley's Romans.
With the competition drawing to a close, Gary is on 14 points with all games played. Mike Watkins with 2 games left to play is on 11 points, with a possible 4 more points, if he wins the next 2 remaining games, and Phil Short with his Sassanid Persians, is on 8 points, with 3 more games left to play with a possible 6 points if he wins all his remaining games. So, no pressure on you Mike, is there, to win your last 2 remaining games.
Friday the 7th of March, pics are by yours truelly, and Paul York. The very first outing of Andy Snelgroves's, AWI game, the terain boards are being built by Steve York, who has done some wonderfull terain for himself, and now the club.
The night of the 18th of April, yes the night before Salute, there were people out there wargaming, pictures provided by Paul York. Indian wars game, terrain boards by Steve York.
Just a few photos of the winners in the WAB competition, I will be putting up a lot more information this weekend, who took part, what armies were used, the placings, but first a big thank you to all the members who took part, the club for providing the funds for most of the prizes, and last, but not least, to Steve Hales, for contributing with vouchers for the winners.
Pictures of an Arthurian game between the York brothers, Steve, and Paul, using the WAB rules, on the last Friday in August, Picts, vs Saxons.
Friday, November 14th 08, a normal club night, with a good mix of games. I even found some of my old WRG 6th edition Nomad cavalry, that I painted nearly 20 years ago, being used in a game. see last pic.
A few pics from the camera of Bill Pavely, some are club night shots, Tunbridge wells open day, and an inter-club meet, organised by Phil Short, and Bill, between SELWG and Tunbridge Wells.
Club night pics, 2 Fridays before SALUTE. The South London Warlords came to the club, to show off, one of the games at SALUTE 09.
December 18th, 09. Fridays club night, loads of members, amazing what effect a film cameraman can do, to boost club members turning up on the night, lights, camera, action.
WW2 pics sent in by Paul York, at a club night at SELWG.
